I'm a 50yo woman, dx'd w/young-onset PD, 2004. So far, progression has been slow and symptoms are controlled with Mirapex, 1.5mg TID.
I'm scheduled for a mini-thoracotomy mitral valve repair soon, and have one friend who is extremely distraught at the idea. She says PD pts should never be given general anesthesia because they "never come back" from it.
Is there any foundation for her worries?
